To stay intentional, mindful and purpose driven— I set goals. I don’t mean just once a year on December 30th before the New Year. I set them every month and review them every week (on either Friday night or Sunday morning specifically).
Today, I’m writing about the exact ways that I organize, schedule and review my goals.
Disclaimer, I’m not an expert organizer, life coach, certified planning professional or anything along those lines. I’m a gal who’s had success in reaching my personal goals and I just want to share them with you. They work for me, but everybody is different and I recommend trying out different techniques that work for you.
Stay until the end becaue I’ll be sharing with you a sweet deal that’ll help you kick off the new year right!
Tips For Goal Setting:
1. Set a time/place on your calendar to plan your goals for each new month
3 days before the end of each month. I plan for the new month ahead. For the past 6 months, I’ve been using
Power Sheets by Lara Casey. However, I’ve been using my one month
Conscious Planner and will be using that moving forward instead of the Powersheets. Set aside time for yourself, maybe an hour a day for a few days before the 1st, to get your goals set and ready to go.
2. Pick your planning tool of choice
For me, I have my calendar/weekly planner and then I have my goal planner. They’re different because my calendar planner shows my week’s layout and the logistics (work schedule, events). My goal planner (aka my favorite one out of the two) is where I store my ideas, goals, blog plans and intentions.
Other tools that help keep me organized:
– iPhone calendar
3. Pick a date every week to review your set goals
For me, I choose Friday nights to review my goals. I love to do this on Fridays for a few reasons.
A. Friday nights are low oppurtunity cost times. Meaning I’m not missing out on much if I stay home and zone into my goals. It’s my favorite time of week to recharge. (if you’re a bar goer, maybe a different day would be better!)
B. I go into my weekend intentional and focused on what to work on. Since I’m not a full-time blogger, I use my weekends as a time for me to work.
Of course, I have nights where I have events going on etc etc, but when that happens, I push my goal setting to Sunday morning. It’s not ideal but I gotta stay flexible : )
*Bonus tips for blogger friends:
-Before the first of every month, I also have a seperate calendar where I write out all my blog post, youtube videos and important dates. Obviously things might change but I like to have a blueprint of my content for the month. This keeps me on track and as sane as possible!
-I like to stay consistent when it comes to content creation. So every Saturday, I block out the day (as much as I can at least) and dedicate it to content creation. I’m writing content for Instagram, filming videos, editing videos, writing for my blog, trying out recipes, did a mention writing? Yeah lots of writing!
– On sundays, I continue that process but I try to keep my sunday’s laid back so I try to do as much as possible on Satruday. Then half way through the week (Wednesday) I review my plans and see if I’m on track etc etc.
So that’s what I do to set my goals in a snapshot.
If you stuck around for this long, thank you for reading. I appreciate that more than anything!
Now, good news! If you haven’t heard, I’m releasing my very first official “product” soon here. It’s a 3- Month Intentional Goal Planner and it’s what I’m personally using the new year!
It’s going to be on sale for $5 until the start of this year, I created it so that it can be reprinted and reused after 3 months. It’ll be up in a matter of days so if you want to be the first to grab a copy, be sure to be signed up for the newsletter
